Last Tuesday my boyfriend and two of our friends came to visit for the week and I think it's safe to say we all had a wonderful time. I'll do this recap in chronological order and make you wait for the engagement, wah ha ha!
Welp...Bobby, Jacob and Tess arrived late Tuesday night and right after we got back to my apartment, everyone promptly passed out. It felt like 1am to them and was way way after my usual bedtime.
Wednesday morning I dropped them off at the train station and they spent the day in San Francisco doing touristy things I've already done while I went to work (I took off Thurday and Friday). They saw Lombard street, found Valparaiso Street, visited Alcatraz, walked along the warf, got lost, all the San Francisco staples.

Thursday rolled around and we took the loooooooooooong way back into the city. We went around to the north side of the bay to try and find a view of the Golden Gate bridge looking south. Our first attempt found us at a pretty beach but unfortunately not able to see the bridge. In my defense, there is actually terrain here and you can't always tell on a map if your view is going to be obstructed. We resigned to heading to where I had seen the bridge from in the past and luck would have it that on our way to get to the bridge to cross over into SF we would happen upon some scenic overlooks with amazing views of the city and the bridge!
We found a cute little place over in North Beach for lunch and had a waitress who grew up on the food so ya know it was good. After lunch we headed over to Golden Gate Park for.....THE ENGAGEMENT!! Ironically as we drove into the park Marry You by Bruno Mars came on the radio. I was dying on the inside but kept it cool on the outside.
Original plan was to have the boys drop the girls off by the bison then have them go "park the car" (code for set up the timeline Jacob had made to help him propose) and they would "get lost" (code for have us come to them) and Tess and I would stumble upon this proposal and then BAM engaged. Little did we realize, there was ample parking everywhere and we wouldn't need to be dropped off. Also Tess needed to use the bathroom in the middle of this. So we dropped her off at a bathroom and had a little pow-wow in the car and came up with plan B which was basically the same thing only slightly changed location and ample stalling techniques. All in all the engagement was lovely and Bobby and I were honored to be a part of their special moment!
While Jacob and Tess spread the happy news and called their families, Bobby and I walked around the park a bit. Afterwards we all hiked around Stowe Lake and climbed to the top of the mini-mountain (medium sized hill) where we were finally able to catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge from Golden Gate Park!! FINALLY!!!
You can barely see it, but its there
Friday we each did our own thing. Jacob and Tess went to the zoo and Bobby and I went on a segway tour! I know I seem to talk about segways a lot but they're really cool. Since my mom and I got rained out when she visited a couple weeks ago I had two vouchers for tours waiting to be used and if I couldn't take my mom, I might as well take my boyfriend! We did the same tour I had taken previously but due to some blocked alleys our route got switched up a bit and the guide took us up to Coit Tower as a consolation prize. Normally they only do that with the advanced tour but our group had a lot of experienced riders.

After the tour we walked down to Pier 39 and saw the sea lions and some of the crappy tourist shops that are there. Then we headed to dinner at Scoma's. I took Bobby there as a surprise because I know how much he loves sea food and his dinner of seared yellow fin tuna was caught earlier that day. I had some sauteed scallops and am still eating the leftovers, it was a massive amount of food. After dinner we headed back to my apartment to have some wine, pop popcorn, and watch reruns of Modern Family. We always love doing random "normal couple" things that we can't easily do due to the distance.
On Saturday morning we picked Jacob and Tess up from their hotel and headed up north to Napa and wine country! We stopped at two vineyards, V. Sattui and Sterling Vineyards and had a blast. The fist place we stopped, V. Sattui, barbecues on Saturday afternoons so we had lunch there and did a tasting where Jacob discovered a love for port.

Tess took this one on her phone. It was a beautiful place and a beautiful day!
After V. Sattui we headed over to Sterling Vineyards where they had a gondola/chairlift ride up to their tasting room. None of us really cared for their wines but the ride up was fun. They had great views of the region and while walking through the building to get to the tasting we saw different parts of the wine making process and the HUGE fermentation barrels. Just a crazy amount of wine in those things.

On Sunday night we hung out and watched Disney movies like the cool 20somethings we are. They flew out at 6:20am on Monday morning so nothing crazy on Sunday night. It was fantastic to have my friends visit and what you've read are just the highlights. Bobby and I both are still so excited to have been a part of the engagement and cannot wait to attend the wedding!
And of course, a picture of Calvin who went home from the hospital on Saturday!
See you in 10 short days, buddy!
**shout out to Tess for putting half of these pictures on Facebook for me to steal
